National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), on Tuesday described the death of the Kwara State PDP Publicity Secretary, Mr. Tunde Ashaolu, as a shock.

Ashaolu was said to have slumped and died on Sunday after the celebration of his 47th birthday anniversary on Saturday.

Ajibade said, “I received with shock the sudden demise of Tunde Ashaolu, Kwara State PDP Publicity Secretary.

“It is indeed sad news, especially at this period when his wealth of experience is needed to reposition our party for victory at the forthcoming general election.

“On behalf of the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party PDP, I send my deepest condolences to Mr. Tunde Ashaolu’s family and Kwara State PDP at this difficult time.

“Until his death, he was a great asset to not only the PDP family but to the great people of Kwara State at large. He led by example and was committed to every assignment that will bring development to his people.

“He will be greatly missed by those whoever came across him. While you mourn this irreplaceable loss, be comforted in the very fact that he left on the sands of time a great legacy that all members of the family must endeavor to sustain.

“Once more, on behalf of the leadership of our Party, please accept our heart-felt condolences.”

Meanwhile, the PDP described Ashaolu’s death as sunset at dawn.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, in a statement said the PDP was heartbroken and heavily grieved over the death of Ashaolu.

He described Ashaolu’s death as a national tragedy and inexpressible sunset at dawn.

Ologunagba said, “Indeed, the PDP family grieves; we are devastated and our hearts bleed. Tunde’s death is a shattering blow, not only to our great Party but also to our dear nation and humanity at large.

“Tunde was an exceptionally patriotic Nigerian, a quintessential publicist, dedicated and humble team player; highly organized personality, remarkably honest, cerebral, outspoken and loyal party man who committed his life in the fight for the entrenchment of democratic tenets of good governance, equity, justice and the Rule of Law in our country.

“As a democrat, Tunde Ashaolu, remained loyal to the ideals of the PDP and made inestimable contributions to the growth and development of our great Party at both the State and National levels, particularly in our current mission as a Party to Rescue and Rebuild our nation from misrule.

He added, “The PDP is deeply pained that Tunde Ashaolu is leaving the stage at the time our great Party and dear nation, Nigeria needs his selfless service the most.

“The PDP commiserates with the Ashaolu family, the Kwara State PDP Executive Committee, the Kwara State PDP fold as well as the entire people of Kwara State and prays God to grant Tunde eternal rest as well as give his family and our great party the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”….
