As a father, you were a rock, a pillar of strength, a source of comfort and peace.
Your guidance, wisdom, and love helped shape me into the person I am today and what I hope to be tomorrow ( God grace).
Prof was my late father’s bossom friend turned brother.
My father’s words as I was leaving to the university: I have discussed with my friend Nuhu. He will be your guidian. That was how I met Prof Yaqub and my Life-Changing Encounter began. As a university student, I was navigating the challenges of higher education, trying to find my footing and direction. He changed the trajectory of my life. I was struck by Prof Yaqub’s warmth, kindness, and intellectual curiosity. He had a way of making everyone feel seen and heard, and I was no exception.
He challenged me to think critically, to question assumptions, and to pursue my passions with purpose and dedication. He helped me discover my strengths and weaknesses, and encouraged me to pursue opportunities that aligned with my values and goals. His guidance and support gave me the confidence to take risks, to innovate, and to push beyond my limits.
Tears of sadness, yes, but also tears of gratitude, for the time we shared, the memories we made,
for the lessons you taught, the values you instilled, and the love you displayed.
Rest now, dear father, your journey’s end, your legacy remains,
In our hearts, our minds, and our actions, your memory will forever sustain.
Farewell, Professor Nuhu Yaqub, farewell, dear father, mentor, and friend,
May your soul rest in peace, and may your legacy never end.
