RE: When a Proxy Defends the Indefensible: Dino Melaye Must Still Answer to the People

It is not surprising that Senator Dino Melaye has resorted to using proxies like Mohammed Kabir Abdullahi to launder his image and divert attention from the very valid issues raised in my previous statement. But no amount of verbosity or personal attacks can conceal the truth — Senator Dino Melaye has consistently used the PDP, particularly its 2023 Governorship ticket, not as a platform for public service, but as a personal financial windfall.
Let us speak plainly.
1. *A Ticket for Enrichment, Not Development*
Dino Melaye’s 2023 governorship bid was never about the people of Kogi State. It was a self-serving venture designed to access campaign funds, flaunt ostentatious wealth, and grandstand in the media. What tangible legacy did he leave behind from that campaign — except noise, designer clothes, and luxury convoys?
How does any of that help the ordinary people of Ijumu, Kabba, or Bunu and entire Kogi West Senatorial District. The same people he claimed to represent for years now forage for food from dustbins — a reality he shamefully referenced himself — yet he cannot point to a single sustainable empowerment project or community-based initiative that puts food on their tables.
Let him name one enduring project he brought to his constituency. Just one.
2. *Dino Has Lost His Base — Kogi West Has Moved On*
It is delusional for his defenders to keep invoking the past. Kogi West has since outgrown the drama and distraction Dino represents. He cannot even win a councillorship election in his hometown today, let alone a senatorial seat. The grassroots know better. They have tasted the emptiness of his representation — flashy, noisy, but hollow.
Now, unable to find a footing in PDP, he turns to the ADC, hoping to once again weaponize their ticket for personal gain. It’s a predictable script. Jump parties, grab tickets, make money, disappear — only to resurface with another party badge and Instagram video.
3. *This Isn’t About Faith or Fashion — It’s About Impact*
Let no one be deceived. This debate has never been about Dino’s religion or flamboyance. It’s about the *total absence of legacy, the weaponization of political platforms for personal gain*, and the deliberate *disconnect from the real needs* of the people he once claimed to serve.
Kogi West deserves better than someone who equates political service with theatrical performance. They deserve serious, sober leadership — not an entertainer masquerading as a statesman.
4. *PDP Must Clean House to Rebuild*
The likes of Mohammed Kabir Abdullahi may try to sanitize Dino’s record, but the PDP must confront the bitter truth: politicians like Dino Melaye have done more to damage the party’s integrity than external opposition ever could. His candidacy in 2023 weakened the party’s credibility in Kogi — not because he lost, but because he never inspired genuine belief in the first place.
If PDP must rebuild, it cannot be through recycled opportunists who only show up for tickets and disappear after elections.
Final Words
Let the records show: no matter how many surrogates he sends, Dino Melaye will be held accountable — not just by party members but by the people he failed to serve. History will not be kind to those who squandered opportunities for impact in exchange for vanity and empty noise.
Let us stop glorifying shadows and demand substance from those who seek to lead.
