Breaking: Man who murdered photo journalist in kogi commits suicide in Hotel room.
As the family of the late photojournalist Ayo Aiyepekun appealed to Kogi State Government and the Nigeria Police to seek justice for their son gruesomely murdered in Lokoja on Tuesday, the suspected killer Adebayo Pelumi on Thursday committed suicide in a hotel.
The Police spokesperson, DSP William Ayah, confirmed the suicide, said the attention of the Police was called by the management of the Hotel of a corpse found in the hotel room .
The suspect an officer of the Nigeria Correctional Centre, killed his friend on Tuesday between the hours of 8:30 pm and kept the corpse in a refrigerator.
According to one of the staff of the hotel who pleaded for anonymity, said Adebayo Pelumi lodged in their hotel on Wednesday afternoon and was found dead on Thursday around 1pm when one of the steward of the hotel went to clean up the room at check out time.
The hotel management quickly alerted the policemen who went there and identified him as the prime suspect they were hunting for.
The police took the remain of the suspected killer to the mortuary of Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja where the corpse was deposited.
Recalled that a photo Journalist working with Inside Story in Lokoja, Kogi State Ayo Aiyepekun was on Tuesday murdered by his neighbour, Adebayo Pelumi who reside in the same compound.
An eye witness account who worked with the InsideStory online media , said he was in the office with the victims doing some video and photo editing when the suspect called the victim to help him out in his poultry farm which is inside the same compound.
The source said it was around 8:30pm when the suspect called him, but he didn’t know that Ayo was not the only person in the office and immediately Ayo get out to meet Adebayo, he hit him with iron repeatedly and killed him there.
The eye witness said he saw the suspect lifting the body into a deep freezer before moving the body into his Hilux Van prompting him to raise alarm.
