KSCOE(T) MOPA MEETS COUNTRY DIRECTOR AGRA, COMMITS TO EDUCATIONAL ENDOWMENT AND PARTNERSHIP FOR AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT

 

The Country Director of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), Dr. Rufus Olorunfemi Idris, made commitment to sponsor 25 students at Kogi State College of Education (Technical) Mopa.This commitment was made during a private visit by a technical team from the College in Kabba.

Representing the Provost, Dr. M.K. Ibrahim, the College Librarian, Mr. Tunde Seidu, expressed the institution’s interest in collaborating with AGRA to enhance agricultural transformation, food security, and poverty reduction in Africa. He highlighted the College’s strengths, including its competent human resources and approximately 400 hectares of arable land. Dr. M.K. Ibrahim also requested Dr. Idris’s sponsorship for students in agricultural sciences, who would become entrepreneurs after completing their three-year studies.

Responding, Dr. Idris expressed his passion for developing youth through agripreneurship, noting that his organization currently sponsors programs in about ten tertiary institutions nationwide. He stated it would be an honor to partner with the College in agriculture, as it’s a fast way to reduce poverty in the country. Dr. Idris further announced that, as an individual interested in training youth in this direction, he would sponsor 25 students at the College. Regarding collaboration with AGRA, he promised to visit the College with his team to discuss potential areas of partnership with the Management.

The highlight of the visit was Dr. Rufus Olorunfemi Idris being decorated as a “Friend of the College” and receiving an Award of Excellence in recognition of his outstanding dedication to the community and the College.
