Ohimegye Attends launch of New Islamic Calendar Year
… demonstrate commitment to Islamic teachings, propagation of Islam.
HRM, The Ohimegye of Igu Koton Karfe, Dr. Saidu Akawu Salihu joined other traditional rulers at the launch of the New Islamic Year Calendar at Muhammad Buhari Square in Lokoja, The State capital.
The event, organized by the Kogi State Council of Ulama, commemorated the beginning of the Islamic New Year (Hijri New Year 1447 AH), which fell on June 26th, 2025, marking the first day of Muharram.
The occasion brought together prominent Islamic scholars and traditional rulers from across the state. His Majesty’s attendance demonstrated his commitment to Islamic teachings and the propagation of Islam.
His Majesty was accompanied by some members of his traditional council and notable dignitaries from Koton Karfe.
