Governor Otu Hails President Tinubu for Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway
…Says The Project Is a New Dawn for Cross River
Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Senator Bassey Otu, has described the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as a transformational project that will open up massive opportunities for Cross River and other coastal states.
Speaking during the official commissioning of the project’s first phase in Lagos on Saturday, Governor Otu praised President Bola Tinubu, stating that the highway reflects the Renewed Hope agenda in action.
“This project is a step towards unlocking the economic potential of Nigeria’s coastal corridor. It is a vision becoming reality under President Tinubu,” the Governor said.
Governor Otu confirmed that work has already begun on the Cross River end of the highway, with contractors actively on site. He noted that once completed, the road will ultimatelyly improve transportation, tourism, trade, and investment across the region.
“This couldn’t have come at a better time. We in Cross River are intentional about growth. This highway connects directly to our development agenda,” he added.
The Governor expressed full support for the project and assured that his administration would continue to collaborate closely with the federal government to ensure its success.
The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is a 700-kilometer mega road project expected to link several states along the southern coastline, from Lagos to Calabar. The first 30-kilometer stretch, now commissioned, marks a major feat in the project’s journey.
“Cross River is ready. We believe in this project, and we will give it all the support it needs to succeed,” Governor Otu said.
With construction progressing steadily in multiple sections, including Cross River, the highway is expected to become the future for economic growth, regional integration, and national unity.
