SSANU FUL Chapter Rejects unjust distribution of N50 billion Earned Allowance for University unions.
… Seeks implementation of 2009 agreements, caution government against creating industrial unrest.
The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian University, (SSANU), Federal University, Lokoja Chapter, has rejected the unjust distribution of the N50 billion Earned Allowance (EA) for University unions, lamented that 80 per cent of the funds was allegedly allocated to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
In a statement issued to Newsmen in Lokoja, Comr. Kadiri Ndakata, SSANU Chairman, FUL Chapter, expressed dismay that the remaining 20 per cent was expected to be shared among,
three other Sisters unions in the University, described it as unacceptable.
It will be recalled that the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated
Institutions (NASU) have outrightly rejected the distribution formula, describing it as unfair to them, pointing out that this is capable of provoking and triggering industrial disharmony within the University.
The dispute he said is centered on the government’s handling of the Earned Allowances, which SSANU believes has been unfairly distributed. He said the union has been vocal about its dissatisfaction with the government’s treatment of non-teaching staff, citing discrimination and unfair labor practices.
“We are not envious of any union or competing but we want fairness, justice and recognition of
our service to the system”.
SSANU, the Chairman said is therefore demanding a fair and equitable distribution of the Earned Allowances, improved
remuneration and better working conditions for non-teaching staff.
The Union he said is also seeking the
implementation of the 2009 agreements with the government which include provisions for the welfare and benefits of non-teaching staff.
The Chairman also called on the federal government to

The FUL SSANU Chairman also appreciated the National leadership of SSANU led by Comrade Haruna lbrahim for taken a bold steps towards ensuring that the injustice does not stand.
