Hon. Umar Yahaya Emerge Kogi Lawmaker of the Year 2024.
The Member Representing Omala State Constituency, Hon. Umar Yahaya has emerged as the Kogi State Lawmaker of the Year.
The nomination of the Lawmaker followed his nomination by members of the public after an opinion poll carried out across the State.
The award is to be presented to the Lawmaker at the forthcoming Nigerian Post Newspaper/Margaret Ekpo Mid Year Public Lecture with the Theme “Children: Our Future, Our Responsibility”.
The recognition and award is to be presented and unveiled to the Lawmaker at a program scheduled to hold at the NUJ Press Centre Lokoja on 27th May 2025 by 10:00am.
The award is in recognition of the Lawmaker’s contributions and positive impacts to the society, particularly with emphasis to his impact on Omala State Constituency.
Similarly, in providing succour to the less privileged in the society, as well as using his resources to better the welfare of women, children, helping the poor, needy and vulnerable in the State.
His Excellency, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, Kogi State Executive Governor, would serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the Annual Public Lecture.
Also His Excellency, the Minister for Steel Development, Prince Shaibu Audu Abubakar will serve as the Guest of Honour.
The event will be Chaired by Prof. Stephen Ikani Ocheni, former Minister of State, Labour and Employment.
His Royal Majesty, the Onogie of Afemai, Lokoja, would serve as the Royal father of the day.
Prof. Salisu Ogbo, Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, will deliver the lead paper.
