KOGI CP DANTAWAYE ENGAGES STAKEHOLDERS ON PUBLIC HEALTH, INTELLIGENCE-LED POLICING, AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT IN SECURITY SERVICE
In a series of high-level engagement earlier today, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, psc, hosted key stakeholders and officers in strategic discussions aimed at enhancing public health standards, intelligence-driven policing, and gender inclusivity within the Force.
During a courtesy visit by veterinary health professionals, led by Dr. Ahmed, Chairman of the Veterinary Association, Kogi State, a call was made for the establishment of a Police unit at the central abattoir to enforce hygiene standards and support meat inspection operations. The proposal, aligned with the State’s “Health First” initiative, seeks to curb the distribution of unwholesome meat and mitigate public health risks such as tuberculosis.
The CP commended the collaboration and pledged the Command’s readiness to consider strategic partnerships that will protect the lives of citizens and maintain sanitary standards, especially amidst rising concerns over illegal slaughtering practices and poor meat transportation.
In a separate meeting with SID field officers and sectional heads, CP Dantawaye emphasized the importance of intelligence gathering and grassroots engagement in tackling evolving security threats. He disclosed that criminals now sit among us, therefore our intelligence must evolve accordingly. While urging them to develop local networks that yield actionable information.
Later in the day, the CP joined the Police Women’s meeting at the State Command Conference Hall, where he praised the leadership of CSP Aishat Abdulrahman of the Pension Department for her excellent service. Reaffirming his commitment to gender inclusion, he announced the recent appointment of a female Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and assured that more opportunities for women would follow.
He encouraged female officers to be bold and outspoken, particularly in the face of harassment or workplace intimidation, stating and noting that the Command stands with them.
The day’s engagements reflect CP Dantawaye’s holistic approach to policing with integrating, community health, intelligence, and officer’s welfare into a unified vision for a safer and more responsive Kogi State.
