Edo NUJ To Honour Bankole Balogun With Posthumous Award

A pioneer General Manager of the then Bendel Broadcasting Service, Late Mr Bankole Balogun is to be presented with a posthumous award by the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
The Award describes Late Mr Bankole Balogun as a Brodcaster who contributed to the development of the Journalism Profession through Bendel Broadcasting Service.
His commitment to the Broadcast industry remains a great record in the history of the Profession.
A joint statement signed by the chairman of the Edo state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists , Comrade Festus Alenkhe and the secretary, Andy Egbon said Late Bankole Balogun dedicated his time and energy to researching and breaking news stories in the then BBS.
His son, Barrister Oladele Bankole Balogun who is the Executive Chairman of the Edo state lnternal Revenue Service is expected to represent the Balogun family of Igarra to receive the posthumous award.
The event is scheduled for Sunday 11th May, 2025 at the Press Centre in Benin city beginning from 4 pm.
Top government functionaries and array of Journalists drawn from the various media organisations in Edo state are expected to grace the award ceremony.
