Sen. Karimi 2027: In Defence Of Lokoja Stakeholders

By Nma Ndagi Yusuf
Across the country, there have been heightened activities on the part of political gladiators to position themselves for one office or the other.
While some people in some offices are scheming to retain their current posts, other are working assiduously to displace the current holders .
Constituent members or residents of Kogi West, particularly voters in Lokoja and Koton Karfe axis are advised to show some pragmatism in the choice that they are to make come 2027 with respect to who their representative would be at the Senate.
The need for pragmatism on the political choice that the people in this axis would make come 2027 is premised on several factors.
Furtherance to the above and fortnight ago, lokoja APC stakeholders unanimously endorsed Senator Sunday Karimi for second term in the interest of justice, equity and stability in the senatorial district.
Although, the decision and outcome of the meeting is generating heated debate among supporters in the axis about the incumbent senator representing Kogi West senatorial district, Sen. Sunday Karimi who majority believe has done a lot with respect to representing the people effectively at the upper Chambers.
Apart from that, Karimi has never left any zone in the district untouched in terms of distribution of projects as well as empowerment schemes.
Aside that, Karimi have many advantages working for him which includes power rotation and tenure. This has silence the minority voice. Many believe that he is a just leader in terms of equal representations among the three federal constituencies touching base with the people of Lokoja and Koton Karfe.
One ready example is the unfortunate boat mishap in Ebbe Kupa, Lokoja local government area, where he not only ensured that he’ was physically present to commensurate with the victims, he donated hefty amount of money to ameliorate the sufferings of the victims as well.
He also used his position to drive support for the affected victims by rallying other donors from the zone to support the victims too.
Aside these, Karimi has continued to carry stakeholders in the zone along in all affairs of politics and governance. One particular pointer to this is the respect and honour that he has continued to accord the leader in the area.
However, let me showcase some of the the numerous achievements of the senator within just two weeks of his stewardship which is as follow;
Among 110 solar-powered boreholes constructed across the seven local governments, many wards benefited in lokoja and Koton Karfe.
A cottage hospital is currently under construction in Kakanda ward, Lokoja 2.
Secondary School Project worth about ₦1.2 billion is ongoing at Koton Karfe.
Rehabilitation of fish Market Reconstruction Senator Karimi in Lokoja, which was destroyed by fire.
Senator Karimi has ensure continue distribution of palliatives during Muslim and Christian festivals.
Sen. Karimi have light off many town and villages with solar panels across Lokoja and Koton Karfe LGAs etc.
It’s in the light of the above that I not only stand with Lokoja stakeholders under the able leadership of Alh. Suleiman Baba Ali, a selfless servant whose leadership cut across party divided but I also strongly supported them on their decision to return Sen. Karimi in 2027 in the interest of the district to secure a better deal in the next dispensation at the federal level.
It is also expedient that Karimi would come back as a ranking senator to be able to get a good committee with a view to attracting more dividends of democracy to the senatorial district, particularly, the Lokoja and Koto axis.
It must also be noted that this is the first time someone from Yagba federal constituency would be representing the district and it would be unfair to only allow him to go for just one time when others went as much as three times to represent the constituency, thereby distorting the zoning arrangement, hopefully after Yagba, it’s Lokoja/Koto federal constituency.
Thereby and logically, we advise other contestants or those who nurse such ambitions at the moment to shelve such for the overall interest of our constituency and the future of incoming generations.
We the people of Lokoja and Koton Karfe axis are known to be fair minded, objective and sagacious in making political decisions and 2027 will be another opportunity for us to reenact such virtues.
