Ossiomo Assures Of Capacity To Provide Power To More Communities In Edo

Ossiomo Power, Benin City , on Monday assured that it has the capacity to provide power solutions to several communities without electricity following her huge investment in infrastructure and key innovation in technologies to drive the economy of Edo State.

The Managing Director, Ossiomo Power, Dr. Uwa Igiehon gave the assurance during the Media tour of facilities at the Ossiomo Industrial Park located in Ologbo, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Council Area of Edo State.

According to the Director, key technologies which include, power generation technologies, power transmission technologies and power distribution technologies, as well as digital metering technologies and advanced payment systems and technology, access to affordable power supply is more than ever available to Nigerians on the Ossiomo Power network.

The Managing Director, Ossiomo Power said the Benin Industrial Park is consistent with the World Bank Metrics, the per Capital power and access to power around the Ossiomo network , which according to him is around 1,000 KWHr per Capital and 100% , respectively compared to averages of 156 KWHr/Capital and 50% national averages.

He further stated that, Ossiomo Power deploys leading edge technology from technology providers around the world, with specialised infrastructure, such as quality control labs, quality certification centres, raw material storage, and other warehousing and logistics services.

He recalled that until the coming on board of Ossiomo Power in Edo, Ologbo community which is her host community was without power for six years.

According to him, the Ologbo community had been severed from power supply for the past six years, thereby throwing the community into darkness.

Igiehon noted that the Ossiomo Industrial Park initiative gave succour to members of the Ologbo community, which now benefits from the power supply from the new power plant.

“Today, we have shown you our second plant, the IPP2, which is really the focus of expansion going forward.

“We have shown you all our gas supply infrastructure.We have shown you our IPP1, which was commissioned in April 2020.And we have also shown you our transmission line. And around Benin, you will see our tower 104.”he said.

He added that the Ossiomo Power plant network now covers over 200km around Benin metropolis with provision of power to MDAs, FG establishment, commercial customers, and communities.

The director used the situation to inform the public that both the federal and state governments are not partners in the company.
