The Kogi State Operation Coordinating Unit (KOGi-SOCU) of the National Social Register (NSR) on Monday 10 March 2025, commenced a 3-Day Workshop in lokoja on NSR-NIN Integration step down Training for LG Desk Officers and Field Enumerators from the 21 LGAs of the State.
In a welcome address at the opening ceremony, the Chairman of the occasion, the Hon Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA, who was represented by the Special Adviser for Finance, Hon Idris Ozi Shaib FCA, heartily welcomed all the dignitaries and participants to training Workshop. Keynote addresses were also delivered by the Kogi SOCU Coordinator, the Regional Director of National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) Mrs Mary Makama, the Team leader of NASSCO, Malam Dauda and the Director General of Kogi Social Intervention Program Agency, Hajia Aishat Omade.
In his speech, the Hon Commissioner reiterated the Governor Ododo administration’s desire to take the majority of the citizens of the state from poverty and vulnerability, particularly our youths and women groups. This, he noted will positively impact and reduce criminal tendencies such kidnapping, robbery, political thuggery etc.
He stated that the tripartite partnership by the State, Federal and World Bank in the implementation of the Social Safety Net (SSN) Programs in Kogi State is on course, and assured the organizers and participants that the State will strive hard to access all programs of the World Bank and other Development Partners that are aimed at reducing poverty and vulnerability of our people, emphasizing that it is in line with the core objectives of the 32-Year Kogi State Development Plan, which is designed, amongst other things, to reduce poverty and vulnerability in the state.
The Hon Commissioner enjoined all to work together to ensure the effective implementation of this program to guarantee a society that is prosperous and resilient for our generation and generations unborn.
The Workshop was subsequently declared open for the technical sessions and training.
