
Kogi Gov’t Begins Supply of Pipe Borne Water To Phase 2, Zone 8 Communities

… Following Revival of Old Lokoja Water Works

The Kogi State Government has begun the supply of pipe borne water to Lokongoma Phase 2. This is several years after the establishment of Greater Water works.
The supply of the the Water to phase 2 and to get to the Army Barracks is coming under the leadership of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Recalled that the present administration revived the old lokoja Water following the collapse of Greater Water after the 2022 flood that submerged and damaged the facilities. The administration revived the Old Lokoja Water to serve communities within the State Capital after several years of breakdown of Lokoja Water leading to water scarcity.
The Honourable commissioner for Water resources Hon Yahaya Muhammed Faruk On Tuesday 4th March, 2025 toured the entire city of lokoja to inspect the water and affirm it’s functionality to supply water to Phase 2 and up to Army Barracks.
The tour which happened at the center of lokoja began from up Adankolo to lokongoma phase 1 through phase 2,3 and down to zone 8.
In the course of the tour, many citizens expressed their heartfelt happiness and appreciation to the executive governor of Kogi state Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for once again attending to one of lokoja’s greatest need which is availability of pipe born water.
According to Mr Attah Onuche Iyale, a resident of phase 2, residents stopped accessing pipe born water for more than 7years now. Seeing it again has brought immeasurable joy to his heart as he won’t have to pay more on getting good treated water for use.
Hon. Yahaya Muhammed Farouk while addressing the press made it known that this is the second time they’re releasing water to Lokongoma, pointing out that the pressure the first wasn’t enough to go to the intended places.
He however said what he has seen today is more than enough to serve communities except some few leakages that would be repaired in due time.
He further enjoined citizens to make repairs of service pipes in their various homes cause the government won’t do that for them and also try to maintain all pipelines, verve and manhole used in the supply of water, adding that huge amount of money have been spent and his Excellency, Gov. Ododo who wouldn’t want the people to resort to the old Kogi state where there’s no water supply.
“For now they would be rationing the water to serve all the community’s as the bigger plant serving from Ganaja village down to Dunamis would be revived in due time .” He stated.
The Honourable commissioner noted Areas that have leakage and blockage, assuring citizens that it would be repaired as soon as possible.
This historic move he said has once again reiterated the governor’s commitment to enhancing good and easy lifestyle for kogites, bringing to an end the years without pipe born water.
