Security Training: Kogi RAAMP Partner Local Communities, Join Forces to Safeguard Construction Efforts.

As construction kicks off on the first phase of the Kogi State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP)—a 65.25km backlog maintenance and rehabilitation initiative—Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has emphasized an unwavering commitment to security and safety.

In line with this, Kogi RAAMP organized a comprehensive training and interactive session to address and strategize on security concerns.

The event brought together contractors, members of the benefiting communities, and local security outfits, with the shared mission of ensuring a smooth and secure construction process.

Representing the State Project Coordinator, Engineer Sheidu Obansa Adamu, the Kogi RAAMP Security Focal Person, Mr Kayode Olowomoran, underscored the vital role of local security outfits in protecting both project assets and personnel. “This project is not without its security challenges. Today’s training equips our partners to preempt and address these challenges, ensuring we meet the governor’s mandate for zero tolerance on crime and criminality,” Olowomoran stated.

He commended the state government for its consistent support, which has bolstered security agencies in maintaining high standards.

Highlighting the collaborative spirit, Engineer Obansa expressed Kogi RAAMP’s commitment to ongoing partnerships with local security forces, essential to protecting contractors and their equipment. Participants were encouraged to be vigilant, proactive, and ready to tackle any security threats, reinforcing the project’s vision of a safe construction environment.

The program featured a presentation from the Security Focal Person, covering key strategies and protocols to enhance site security and maintain order during construction. Participants included representatives from the Vigilance Group of Nigeria (VGN), local hunters, and contractors Swaleys Nigeria Limited, ECL Construction JV Integrated Global Concept, and Zarcos Construction Company.

As work on the 65.25km stretch begins, Kogi RAAMP is confident that with solid partnerships and robust security strategies, this initiative will progress successfully, benefiting both communities and the state.
