He said the office when established, will enhance the practice of traditional medicine, noting that the state is blessed with abundant medicinal plants and raw materials.

The NANTMP National President noted that the Traditional Medicine council bill which is already before the National Assembly, when passed, will help in regulating the practice thereby eliminating quackery in the practice.

According to Alhaji Shaba Mekudi, the World Health Organization, WHO says eighty five to ninety percent of the world population depends on traditional medicine for survival, hence efforts will not be spared at repositioning the traditional medicine practice.

“I am happy to be here to perform this ceremony today, as you can see, Kogi is moving forward and we expect others to do same”, he stated.

The National President called for the cooperation of the members in the state, describing the state chairman, Doctor Chief Ibrahim Amodu as a vibrant leader who has the passion to serve the body passionately.

Earlier, the state chairman of NANTMP, Doctor Chief Ibrahim Amodu said the inauguration of the office was to ease administrative activities, explaining that despite lean resources, his leadership was determined to make a positive difference.

Doctor Ibrahim Amodu assured of a more vibrant traditional Medicine practice in the state and appealed to all unregistered persons to take the right step in their own interests.

Our Correspondent reports that members from across the various local government areas were present at the ceremony, while cultural dancers entertained the audience.
