Several Years After, Kogi Government Complete Rehabilitation of Moribund Borehole at Madabo Community of Lokoja
The Kogi State Governor has completed the rehabilitation of the moribund borehole located at Madabo Centre Community of Lokoja LGA.
The resuscitation followed the replacement of the overhead tanks, the repairs of the borehole pump, replacement of broken pipes to enable the reticulation of Water to service the Madabo Community of Lokoja LGA.
The rehabilitation and reticulation of water for the Madabo Centre Community the Government disclosed is a temporary relief pending when efforts to fix the old Lokoja Water Works that will supply water to Lokoja Metropolis would have been completed to enable water reach the area.
As at Press time, the overhead tanks had been fixed while the fixing of the old borehole that has been moribund for several years has also been be completed.
When completed, the water facility will serve as a relief pending when the Old Lokoja Water Works will become functional in the next couple of days.
The Kogi State Commissioner For Water Resources, Engr Yahaya MD Farouk, expressed his appreciation to Gov Usman Ahmed Ododo for his swift and prompt response towards alleviating the plight of the people.
According to the Commissioner, “The Governor directed the replacement of the Galvanized water head tank which was rotten while on the other side he directed the fixing of the borehole that has a burnt pump”.
“As soon as I saw the complain of the people. I drew the attention of the Governor, who directed that it should be done immediately”.
“Presently the plastic tanks have been delivered and the borehole has been replaced. The work has been completed. Though it is a temporary measure. This is because when effort on resuscitating the old Lokoja Water Works that we are currently test running is completed, it will also supply water to the area”.
“Since there was an existing borehole but moribund for years at Madabo Centre, the Governor directed that it be fixed immediately pending when water from the Old Lokoja Water Works will be reaching the area”.
The residents of Madabo Centre could not hide their joy upon noticing the State Government gesture, expressed their profound appreciation to Gov Usman Ahmed Ododo for rehabilitating the water facility several years after.
