Shun Misinformation on Kogi LG Polls by Opposition Parties
Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) hereby debunk the claims by opposition parties that local government elections are not taking place in Kogi State.
Voting is currently underway across 239 wards and all polling units in the state’s 21 local government areas, in accordance with KOSIEC guidelines.
As a party, we have extensively campaigned for our candidates in the local government areas and are confident of emerging victorious. The claims that elections are being conducted at Government House are untrue and malicious.
Presently, all stakeholders, the party faithful are at their polling unit, where voters have turned out in large numbers and are peacefully voting and others waiting to cast their ballots.
Infact, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which is struggling to stay afloat, has long been overwhelmed by internal strife, leadership crises, and defections, which diminished its ability to effectively oppose the ruling APC.
PDP’s lack of direction and leadership tussle has rendered it ineffective as an opposition party and they know they are a party practically drowning in depression, submerged deep into political abyss.
The APC has numerical strength and a visible political structure in the state to secure victory for its candidates. We urge opposition parties to cease spreading falsehoods, hoping to create a false narrative for judicial victory.
Our party demonstrated strength, capacity, and commitment through well-planned campaign rallies and roadwork, showcasing strategic, systematic, and coordinated efforts that yielded a massive voter turnout today. We uphold the rule of law and support KOSIEC’s efforts to conduct free and fair elections.
KOSIEC since announced the local government elections for 19 October 2024, with Chairman Mamman Eri assuring stakeholders of a transparent and credible process and align with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999, as amended) and the Electoral Act (2010, as amended) to ensure a hitch-free process.
We urge the public to disregard the media propaganda and sympathy-seeking tactics employed by the PDP and its politically dying members.
The APC remains focused and committed to free and fair elections, confident of victory.
