ENCOURAGE NIGERIANS TO GO BACK TO FARMING, PALLIATIVES NOT SOLUTION TO HUNGER AND FOOD SCARCITY NUAAE PRESIDENT TELLS FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.
The National President of the Nigerian Union Of Agriculture And Allied Employees, (NUAAE) Comrade Obafemi Oyenubi has Called on the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led federal government to encourage Nigerian masses to go back to farming to enable her overcome the Challenges of food insecurity, hunger , unemployment and to actualize it plan of diversifying the Nation’s economy.
Comrade Obafemi pointed out that, for Nigeria and Nigerians to overcome the Current high Cost of food items and food Scarcity witnessed in the Country, the masses must be encouraged to return to farming, and the Government must be ready and willing to make Agricultural activities attractive to the masses by ensuring the availability of Agricultural infrastructure and access to fund.
While applauding the Government for Some of it interventionist policies to Cushion hunger and food Scarcity in the Country, he however warned that, the distribution of food items (palliatives) to the Nigerian masses was not and has never Solved the problem of food insecurity in any part of the World.
He said though banditry, terrorism and insecurity to Some extent generally, was responsible for food Scarcity in the Country, he however, advise that, the Government Should Channel it resources and attention to other Zones or States that has not been affected by the activities of bandits and terrorists to enable the nation Overcome the Challenges of food insecurity and Youth Unemployment.
Obafemi further noted that, as one of the major Stakeholders in the Agricultural Sector of the Nation, the Nigeria Union Of Agriculture And Allied Employees, NUAAE was ready to advise and also Partner with the federal government to overcome any Agricultural related Challenges.
The NUAAE President disclosed this to the media at the Green minds Hotel Utako, federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Shortly after a high powered meeting , held, Saturday September 5th, 2024, on how to move the Union forward by the National Executives of the Union and Veterans amongst the Union.
Finally, in their Separate remarks the President of the Union , Comrade Obafemi Oyenubi and a member of the Union, Comrade,Shehu Usman Salihu assured members and the general Public of the Association’s unwavering Commitments and efforts to harmonious their differences and Settle all perceived disagreement within,so that they Can work in Unison to achieve their set goals and also move the Nation’s Agricultural Sector to the next level.
