PORTLAND GAS LIMITED DISTRIBUTES CONVERSION KITS TO MOTORISTS

In fulfilment of the Promise made to Nigerians by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led federal government, to provide a cost friendly source of powering their Automobiles towards Cushioning the effects of the removal of fuel Subsidy, the Portland Gas limited in Partnership with the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, (NASENI) has Commenced the second phase of the distribution of free Conversion kits to motorists in the federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Portland Gas limited, Mr.Folajimi Muhammed who spoke to our Correspondent at the Conversion Center, Utako, federal Capital Territory,(FCT) on the sideline of the distribution of free Conversion kits to Members of the National Union Of Road Transport Workers, ( NURTW) a gesture of the Tinubu led Government,said the Conversion of premium motor Spirit Consuming Automobiles to Compressed Natural Gas had already begun Since may 31st, 2024 immediately after the Conversion Center was officially Commission by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

 

According to him, the presence of many Motorists at the Conversion Center for the Collection of the Conversion kits was a testament to the acceptability of what they are doing, pointing out that before the distribution of the free Conversion kits to Motorists, the Center has been offering Conversion Services to many Motorists Since their inauguration in may 2024, with the Conversion Capacity of a Car per hour, he said.

 

Mr.Folajimi further noted that, they also have a training center that gives orientation to users on the parts and Components of the Converted parts of the Cars, precautionary services were provided before Drivers could do anything, and also ensure they Come back here for Servicing, even before installation a lot of precautionary services were provided, he added that, if all the above is adhered the likelihood of risk will be minimal.

Responding to question to our Correspondent on the affordability of the Conversion for those who were to foot the bills themselves, the Mr. Folajimi Mohammed pointed out that, there was no fixed price for the Conversion,more so that, it also depends on the Capacity of the engine, and that with the fluctuation of the exchange rates it would be difficult to fix price for the Conversion at the moment.

 

He further assured that, their partnership with the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure ,(NASENI) was to ensure that the Conversion kits Could be locally Manufactured,so that the foreign exchange rate wouldn’t be a determining factor for the price.
