Senator Abba Moro and his passion for infrastructural development in Benue South
By Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John
On June 1, 2024, a delegation from the office of the senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Comrade Abba Moro PhD left Abuja for a tour of the senator’s projects across Benue South Senatorial District.
The tour was necessitated by the senator’s desire to know the statuses of his constituency projects, which he has facilitated and executing for his people in the last two years, with a view to ensuring that the projects completed are put to proper use, those ongoing are completed and those not done to specifications are re-visited.
The tour took the delegation to Usha, in Agatu LGA; Ikpemgbe in Ado LGA; Ofoke-Ojope and Odugbo in Apa LGA; Awume, Agadagba, Onyagede and Ohimini river in Ohimini LGA; Ipom, Ipolo-Icho, Otada, Alheri and Ojira streets in Otukpo LGA.
Other places visited included Odiapa (road), Ad’Obi palace and Ijegwu in Obi LGA; Oru bridge, Ad’Oju palace and Adenu in Oju LGA; Okpoga, Iwewe, Ichakwu and Ugbokolo in Okpokwu LGA; and Adupi-Orokam, Obu Branch, River Ogbadibo, Otto and Ago in Ogbadibo LGA. We inspected transformer installation, rural electrification, roads rehabilitation, bridges, boreholes, primary healthcare centers, lecture hall, community clinic, etc.
As we manoeuvred our ways through the bushes and rough roads; from one village to another and from one local government to another, my admiration and love for Distinguished Senator Abba Moro tripled. I could see, in my mind, a man who’s fully committed to the service of his people. A man who earnestly wishes he had the resources and wherewithal to turn Benue South to El Dorado.
Senator Moro is so full of compassion and love for his constituents. His insistence on the right things to be done for his people puts him ahead of many people. We were so excited to see that the people in all the communities we visited joyfully received us and openly expressed their undying love for their senator. They prayed for him. They wished him well so he can continue to touch lives. They were all very grateful, and that was quite encouraging and soothing.
For the projects visited, a comprehensive report has been made for further actions. Senator Moro is solely out to work for his people. Whatever he has started in any part of the senatorial district will be completed according to specifications. He does not tolerate poorly-executed or half-done job. He ensures that the right thing is done at all times.
For his bridges, primary health care centres, roads, rural electrification, blocks of classrooms, boreholes and all the other legacy projects he has initiated and scattered all over Benue South, the good people of the senatorial district must be rest assured that none will be left uncompleted. He has his hands on the plough and there’s no looking back.
Distance or rough terrain is not a barrier for Senator Moro to reach his people. He has a belief that if a community is not too far for his people to cast their votes for him, then such a community should not be too far for him to locate project, and we saw that during the tour. There were projects, like the Oru bridge in Oju, that we could only access on bikes, yet Senator Moro went to that remote area to build a bridge for the people.
As we continue to enjoy the senator’s leadership and representation in the senate, what is expected of us is to keep praying for him. Once a project is sited in our community, we must take ownership of such project and guard it jealously against vandals and fire. We can also report shoddy job, without any form of harassment or intimidation for anyone, if such job is not done according to specifications. Senator Moro believes so much in genuine and accurate feedbacks.
With the testimonies about the senator from the people, we are very confident that Benue South is on the right track and will continue to be great. Senator Moro has assured that before he leaves the stage, each of the 102 council wards in the senatorial district will have a legacy project. He’s fully committed to that pledge and, from all indications, he will surpass that target. For him, It’s all about the people, nothing about self.
