The Publisher and Editor in Chief, The Nigerian Post Newspaper, Abu Michael has sent a message of congratulations to Barr. Shaba Ibrahim for his outstanding representation while he served the people of Lokoja Kogi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Barr. Shaba Ibrahim successfully completed his tenure at the House of Representatives few days ago, he represented the people of Lokoja Kogi Federal Constituency between 2019-2023.
In a statement issued to celebrate his outstanding performances, the Editor notes that:
Let me on behalf of the management of The Nigerian Post Newspaper appreciate your outstanding stewardship. I make bold to pen down this commendation, particularly that I have been associated with past representation in Lokoja Kogi Federal Constituency.
While I’m proud to State that you stood out in terms of presentation of bills and motion, reason why, protocols were broken by the leadership in ensuring that you occupied sensitive committee’s and Adhoc assignments.
Let me recall some of your landmark motion to include motion on urgent need to address incessant kidnapping in Kogi Local Government Area of Kogi and motion and an urgent public importance for intervention in communities ravaged by flood and disaster in Lokoja and Kogi Local Government areas of Kogi State.
Similarly, I’m aware of your constant meetings with the governors of Kogi and Nasarawa states on how best to tackle the incessant kidnappings on the highways in your Constituency, an action that led to the demolition of the criminal hideouts by the military as many of the bandits were neutralised.
I’m also aware of your effort at making Lokoja Kotonkarfe axis of the highway safe for Commutters and motorists as you mobilised vigilante groups to secure communities while vegetation along the dreaded spot was always cleared by your efforts.
Permit me to place on record that like others of your colleagues in the 9th House of Representatives, you only spent about 3 years, yet you made an outstanding difference when justaposed with others before you.
Your determination to keep your constituents abreast with your contributions at the National Assembly, through town hall meetings remains remarkable.
Permit me to Commend you for your efforts to procure irrigation pumping machines worth millions of naira yearly and distributed to farmers to aid all season farming across the Constituency.
I’m aware that under your representation several hecters of land were mapped out for irrigation farming. This you did knowing fully well that farming is the mainstay of our people.
It is on record that tour distribution of grinding machines to widows in lokoja and kogi local government areas, disaster assessment visits and donation of food items and cash to communities ravaged by flood in the area stands you out.
Let me commend tour payment of hospital bills for victims of Akpogun tanker explosion, and other disasters/intervention, construction of solar powered boreholes in the Constituency.
Till date, I can recall that your provision of palliatives to your constituents to cushion the effects of the dreaded COVID-19, during the lockdown remains indelible.
Let’s I forget, you equally constructed and furnished blocks of classrooms in the Constituency because of your belief in functional educational as the remedy for poverty and deprivation.
As you bow out in style, with everyone by my estimation lauding your representation, let me thank you for all those you helped secured admissions, full scholarships, distribution of text books and other Educational materials to students in primary, secondary Schools and tertiary institutions in the Constituency.
Once again, you have done well. Keep up the good work as many more opportunities await you.
