As the All Progressive Congress (APC) continues to search for a suitable candidate to deputize Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo from across the Kogi Eastern Senatorial district, one area that stands out is its enormous voter registration and personalities of outstanding pedigree.
Undoubtedly, a major factor that influences decisions when recommending a particular personality for a specific position is their competence, acceptance, popularity, and capacity, coupled with their technological know-how of leadership and governance.
Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman, a well-known figure in Kogi State politics, was appointed as the Acting Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja on April 7, 2020, by His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, and confirmed as the substantive Rector on February 12, 2021.
Since assuming office, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman has initiated several reforms aimed at restoring the lost glory of our dear Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja. These reforms focus on structural, administrative, and academic development in line with best practices and the current realities in the country.
Dr. Usman Ogbo is described by youths across communities in Nigeria as a “One man community” who has facilitated numerous employment opportunities for the teeming youths and graduates in Kogi State and beyond. He believes that providing employment opportunities for youths is crucial for emancipation from poverty and curbing crime and criminality in every setting.
Dear All Progressive Congress (APC) State Working Committee, with all humility, I urge you to consider this iconic man of excellence with over 70 listed achievements and over 60 awards in 30 months as Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja.
For clarification, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman has an unblemished record of service; he is a man of noble qualities, an ambassador of goodwill, a disciplinarian, and strict adherent to rules and procedures. He is a trailblazer in humanism, a genuine family man, a dogged fighter, and crusader for justice.
As a distinguished academic and an achiever par excellence, Dr. Usman Ogbo is aptly described and viewed by many from different perspectives as a radical and no-nonsense administrator. He is the man whom His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, referred to as the “Poster Boy” of his new Direction Administration, and at another level, as the “Special One”.
Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman is the man who has turned lemon into lemonade, the “Uncommon Rector” as called by students, the “Digital Rector” as called by some, “Comrade Rector” as referred to by the NANS President, and “The Transformer” as called by the Polytechnic community. He is known as a “Pacesetter” and the “New Face of Kogi Poly” by the good people of Kogi State and beyond.
In light of the above, I wish to draw the attention of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to consider Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman as a potential candidate in the forthcoming gubernatorial election, in order to ensure a stress-free victory at the November 11, 2023 poll.
