The Kogi State government is to spend thirty-three Million Naira to provide road and electricity to three communities of Odu Ikaka and Odu Ajaru Eke, in Dekina LGAs.
The projects is to be executed under the community and Social Development Project, funded by the Kogi State Government.
Gov. Yahaya Bello made the disclosure at the presentation of cheques for implementation of the projects in Lokoja, reiterated his administration’s commitment towards the provision of social amenities to rural communities.
The Governor who was represented by the Auditor General of the State, Alhaji Yakubu Okala, said the projects is aimed at uplifting the well-being of rural dwellers as well as a fulfilment of his campaign promises to the people, lamented that the communities have lived without electricity since 2012.
The Governor described the projects in the three Communities as efforts geared towards liberating the benefitting communities from poverty and under development, expressed regrets that the benefitting communities were denied electricity for years for political reasoning, urged the benefitting communities to make judicious use of the funds given to them.
Gov. Bello assured of his resolve in funding the Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency towards enabling them to do more in rural communities.
Speaking at the occasion, the General Manager of Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency, Chief Dauda Momoh, disclosed that the community projects are the second to be funded by the state government after the closure of World Bank funding for CSDP last year.
He said the first set of ten community development plans(projects) have been completed and are now fully in use across the state.
In his response, Ademu Akowe, Chairman, Community Project Monitoring Committee on behalf of Odu Ikaka Community Development Association, lauded the administration of Gov Yahaya Bello for bringing smiles on the faces of people of the benefitting community, equally praised the Auditor General of Kogi State, Alhaji Yakubu Okala, for rekindling the lost of the community with the payment of the counterpart fundings, assured of judicious utilization of the funds for the purposes intended.
Highlights of the occasion was the signing of the Grant agreements and presentation of cheques to the benefitting communities.
