Lokoja Flood Update: Kogi Assembly members relocate to IDP camps, as quarters Submerges,

The flood ravaging the country has yet to subside as the water level keep on increasing by the day, sacking more house holds along the river Benue and Niger including Lokoja metropolis which is seen as the epic center for now.

 

Our correspondent visit to the Kogi State House of Assembly Quarters along Ganaja road this morning by 7:17.00 hrs shows that the quarter has been totally submerged and many of the members, he learnt has relocated to an undisclosed IDP within the metropolis.

 

He further confirmed that both the Speaker and Deputy Speaker residence within the quarters has been taken over by the flood forcing the Deputy Speaker to park out, noted that efforts to speaks with people seen around the area proved abortive as many of them are afraid to bear their minds on the national crisis which has affected many livelihood.

 

Some of the members who don’t want their names in prints was not happy that the Governor did not bother to visit their quarters for an on spot assessment like he did visited old market and other areas within Lokoja, he visited yesterday, stressing that the Commissioner of Environment, Hon. Victor Omofaiye who was once their colleague did not also bother about their plight to see what the members are currently facing with the flood situation.

Other areas visited like Ganaja village, Adankolo, Old market still remain the same as the water level keep increasing and not showing any sign of leaving soon.
