The Executive Director and founder of a non governmental organization, Justice Helpline Foundation, Barr. Zacchaeus Dare Michael, has called on Dangote Group of Company to open up the closed Obajana road it diverted as it is endangering the lives of motorists.
Barr. Dare, a human rights activists, made the call in a statement, called on Dangote to open the closed potion of the road pointing out that Motorists are now daily living in danger, following constant attacks by kidnappers and armed robbers.
According to the statement: ” You’re making life difficult for our people. You promised that the road will be closed for only seven weeks. We are aware that the work has been completed and it is over the number of weeks you promised, yet your refusal to open the road is causing us untold hardship.
” Hardly does a day passes without our people falling pry to kidnappers and armed robbers as a result of the road diversion into the bush.
” The damage done to vehicles as a result of the diversion is unimaginable as a result of the bad road. Information reaching us showed that the road has been completed.
” With all sense of responsibility, I urge you to open up the road so as not to further exposed our people to further kidnapping and armed robbers.
” We have lost too many lives and experience damaged vehicles that is one too many for comfort”.
The Executive Director, lauded the Dangote Groups of Company for the effort and the corporate social responsibility in trying to fixed the road, however said it is becoming obvious that opening the roads now following the inherent dangers and hardship cannot be overemphasized.
