Leadership is not only about occupying positions and discharging responsibilities, it is also about innovation and thinking outside the box. It also goes beyond just policy formulation, but implementation.
In justifying the above, the Hon. Minister of State FCT, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu PhD is blazing the trail and setting a benchmark for other leaders and aspiring leaders to emulate.
In demonstrating the innate capacity for Impactful leadership in her, she initiated the Almajiri’s Rehabilitation Programme in the FCT where young boys who litter the streets of FCT as beggars are not only being evacuated, but trained in vocational skills acquisition schemes to equip them with relevant skills which will enable them to become productive members of the society through self reliance and entrepreneurship.
In that regard, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu PhD, through the Social Development Secretariat of the FCTA under the supervision of her able lieutenant, Mandate Secretary of the Social Development Secretariat, Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed Kabir is engaging former almajiri’s for training in furniture production, shoe production, plumbing, bricklaying, paint production, POP production and several other vocations.
So far, over five hundred former almajiri’s have either been trained or are being trained at different vocational facilities under the Social Development Secretariat of the FCT.
Yesterday, the Hon. Minister of State FCT, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu PhD, visited some of the training centers for on the spot assessment and to interact with the trainees on the need to take maximum advantage of the programme to become productive members of the society.
She urged them to be steadfast in their chosen endeavors and cautioned them against going back to begging and also against being used as political thugs, particularly as we are approaching the period of elections.
