Signing of VAPP Bill Into Law: Ex. Dir. CPI Expresses Appreciation To Gov. Bello, Other Development Partners.


 

The Executive Director, Challenged Parenthood Initiatives, Ms. Eunice Abimbola Agbogun have expressed her deepest appreciation to Gov. Yahaya Bello for assenting into law the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Bill.

 

The Executive Director, who was the initiator of the VAPP Bill, made the disclosure of her sincere appreciation to Gov. Bello, soon as the information about the signing of the VAPP bill was made public.

Ms. Agbogun described Gov. Yahaya Bello as the people and gender sensitive Governor, said by his assent to the bill, the governor has once again proven to be the hero of Kogi people who over the years desire a law to protect them against violence, irrespective of position, private or public public.

The Executive Director who was full of praises for Gov. Bello, said by this singular action of the signing, he has once again added another feather to his cap, with his name written in Gold.

Ms. Agbogun also said she would remember with nostalgia the critical role played by the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and USAID for their unquantified efforts in kick-starting and supporting the VAPP Bill, lauded there efforts which she noted would remain indelible in her mind.

Similarly, still in her mood of appreciation, the Executive Director CPI, equally expressed appreciation to the indelible role of ActionAid/Nigeria and Mercy Corps for their supportive roles that made the public hearing of the VAPP bill realizable in 2020, expressed the appreciation of the people of the state to the support which has made the bill that was passed by the Assembly now law in the State following the assent by Gov. Bello.

The Executive Director said her immeasurable thanks goes to Savannah Centre For Diplomacy, Democracy and Development who she noted also joined the team of development partners in ensuring that the VAPP bill was assented to, said SCDDD has proven to be people orientated.

Ms. Eunice Agbogun described the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Dr. Mrs. Folashade Ayoade Arike as a woman champion who worked tirelessly to ensure that the VAPP bill was assented to, stating that the women of the State in particular, would list her in the hall of Fame for her untireless role.

While pointing out that the bill couldn’t have seen the light of day without the support of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of the State, prayed that his future aspiration in the legal profession would glow brighter.

The Executive Director used the medium to thank all other development partners under the aegis of KONGONET in the State, as well as other State and Non State actors who’s names are too numerous to mention, prayed God to grant them there heart desires for standing tall for the people.

While pointing out that now that the law has been signed and ready for implementation, the Executive Director called on the development partners who supported the passage into law of the VAPP bill, urged for there continued support towards the implementation of the law in the State.

Ms. Eunice Abimbola Agbogun assured that she would continue to render selfless sacrifices and service to humanity, returned all Glory to God for making the VAPP bill become law.
