Agro Climatic Resilience in Arid and Semi Arid landscape project, Barr. Ladi Ahmed Jatto, has assured of the completion of Ankpa GULLY SITE.
The Project Co-ordinator gave the assurances when concerned members of the OLUBO-OJO GULLY EROSION SITE in Ankpa LGA paid her courtesy call.
The Project Co-ordinator thanked the members of the Community for the visit, as well as thanked Gov. Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello for his prompt release of the much needed Counterpart fund, without which intervention in the completed Sites would have been a mirage.
Barr. Ladi further assured the visitors that the delay in the completion site was not deliberate pointing out that the Bank’s conditions for clearing Engineering Designs, were quite strenuous.
The PC disclosed that the good news about the Bank’s clearance of the Engineering Design for the Site, whilst assuring them that the Ankpa GULLY SITE would be treated under ACReSAL, which is billed to kick off, soon.
She admonished them to continue exercising patience, as the days of waiting is almost over, assured of the readiness of the state government to fight gully erosion to a standstill in the State.
Earlier in his remarks, the leader of the delegation, Hon. Adaji Yakubu Shittu, thanked the Project Coordinator for sparing time out of her busy schedule to see them; he assured her that they would take the good news to the people of OLUBO-OJO & environs, whilst waiting patiently for when the Government of Kogi State, through the instrumentality of ACReSAL would come to their rescue.
He said the delegation were in the SPMU to personally thank the PC and the State Government for the gully control interventions being carried out in parts of the State.
He however appealed for the Ankpa Gully erosion site, listed as a Priority Site was taking a long time for actual intervention works, pleaded with the PC to do everything humanly possible to make the intervention a possibility.
