The Kogi state Auditor General, Alhaji Yakubu Okala,has joined other eminent personalities to congratulates Nigerian Christians and the entire citizens on this year’s Easter celebration.
Yakubu Okala in a message of felicitation to Christian brothers and sisters and made available to Media Organizations in Lokoja on Sunday, said the season is a beacon to citizens that the current spate of nadir of human and Security challenges will soon unfold a season of triumph of good over evil ; hope over despair , and light over darkness.
He said ” I join our Christian brothers and sisters to celebrate this year’s Easter, which is the most significant event/Festival in the Christian calendar”.
”This Year’s celebration is very unique for adherents of the two great faiths in Nigeria.It culminates the 40-day season of lent for Christians which coincided with the Holy month of Ramadan Fast,Pray, assist the poor,abhor injustice and strife,give alms,penitently engage in self -examination and repentance of sins”.
Okala noted that similar values apply to the Muslim Faithful ,as Ummah currently are observing the holy month of Ramadan.
Yakubu Okala reminded the Followers of Jesus Christ and the populace that the season is not only meant for merry making or jamboree but a period of sober reflection to offer supplications to God’s intervention in the socio-economic and insecurity malaise bedevilling the country and its people.
The StateAuditor General equally urged Christian brethren and the citizens in general to in the spirit of the season to Pray for leaders at all levels of governments and the presidential ambition of Governor Yahaya Bello in the forthcoming 2023 elections.
Yakubu Okala also admonished them to imbibe true love, selfless services,self sacrifice, peace,good neighborliness, reconciliations, obedience to constituted authorities and above all abide by God’s ordinances as exemplified by Jesus Christ.
While wishing the Christian brethren a happy and blissful Easter celebration ,Okala however cushion against indulging in any anti-social behaviors capable of denting their reputations as well as breach the peace of the land.
