… promises more effective representation
Member representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency of Kogi State, Hon. Shaba Ibrahim (Sodangi Lakwaja) has on Thursday, promised more effective and robust representation for his constituents if he is re-elected.
Hon. Shaba Ibrahim made the promise while addressing the Local Government PDP Executives both in Kogi Local Government and Lokoja Local Government, while declaring his intention to run for the Lokoja/Kogi House of Representatives seat in the 2023 general election.
The House of Reps Member said that he is in the race to win, adding that he has the capacity, strength and widespread contacts across the grassroots of the constituency to win the election if he wins the primary election.
“I joined politics decades ago to pursue certain ideas especially to better mankind, provide quality service and bring development to our people.
“I have kept faith with these ideas, and as we can also physically see, the ideas have found expression all over the constituency within the past three years of my being in the National Assembly as our constituency representative.
“There is enough evidence that within the past three (3) years of my being in National Assembly as our constituency representative, a lot of transformation has taken place in our constituency; a good number of our people have gained employment, our constituency is receiving a lot of facelift as we are constantly executing projects all around the constituency; all these feats we have achieved courtesy of our constituency intervention programmes and our constituency empowerment programmes. It is clear that the better representation we the good people of Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency deserve, is beginning to be a reality within the past three (3) years of my being our representative at the National Assembly. Personally, I feel, we will never in our rights as citizens, stop deserving the best as a constituency; hence, come 2023, we should yet send out the best hand to represent us well and to continually attract impactful development to our dear constituency as much as much works have been done within the past three (3) years of being in National Assembly as our representative, more works need to be done to consolidate on the achievements on ground.
“After deep reflection and consultation with God, family, friends and political associates, I have decided to offer myself yet again, to seek the nomination of our great party, PDP, to re-contest for the Lokoja/Kogi Federal constituency election in the forthcoming 2023 general elections,” Hon. Shaba Ibrahim told the cheering crowd of constituents gathered at the declaration.
“I promise to provide more robust representation and to add more value to the good governance of our people. Ahead of 2023, if elected I promise to do more than I have been able to do for us as a constituency within the past three (3) years.
“I will deploy my wealth of experience and contacts gathered in my years of sojourn in politics both within the grassroots of our constituency and at the national level and at the international level, to continue to better the lot of our constituency.
“For me to be able to achieve these visions and missions for us as a constituency, I therefore most respectfully request our party members and our party delegates in Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency to elect me as the flag-bearer of our party in the forthcoming Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency primary election of our party,” he said.
In response, Kogi Local Government PDP Chairman, Hon. Saidu Ibrahim Oyinoyi said all the delegates of the party from the 11 electoral wards of Kogi Local Government Area have reassured Hon. Shaba Ibrahim that they firmly stand by him and his decisions even in respect of State House of Assembly, Senate, Governorship and Presidential primaries as well the general elections.
The Kogi Local Government delegates gave their assurance to Hon. Shaba Ibrahim when he visited the party Executives in the Local Government yesterday, Thursday 7th April 2022, to intimate them about his intention to seek re-election in the forthcoming Lokoja/Kogi Federal House of Representatives election. Speaking on behalf of the delegates, the party chairman, Hon. Oyinoyi stated that they are unanimously in agreement to support Hon. Shaba Ibrahim, in recognition of his sterling leadership qualities and commitment to peace and good representation, stressing that they are poised “to make sure that the man who remembered us when we were in hardship, we won’t forget him when he needs us,” he said.
In the same vein, the Chairman of Lokoja Local Government chapter of the party, Hon. Ibrahim Isah Saba and all Party executives warmly welcomed Hon. Shaba Ibrahim to the party secretariat in Lokoja. Hon. Saba who appreciated Hon. Shaba Ibrahim on the renovation of the secretariat and the leaders who deemed it fit in reposing on him the power to pilot the affairs of the party at the Local Government, promised to justify the mandate given to him.
Hon. Saba wished Hon. Shaba Ibrahim success and ensured other aspirants that the doors of Lokoja Local Government PDP Executives are always open to all aspirants that intend to contest under PDP.
Among the highlights of the declaration was the reception of some of APC members who defected to PDP in Lokoja/Kogi constituency. The defectors were led by Dan’Musa Ibrahim (Alama).
