The Center for Integrated Health Programs (CIHP), Kogi State has said that the training of Social Welfare Workers from 16 Local Government Areas of the state on Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC), by the CIHP, was one of the strides to the people of Kogi State.
The State Director of CIHP, Pharmacist Benard Akpah made the remarks at the 3 Day workshop organized for Local Government Social Welfare Workers by his office at the Saatof Hotels in Lokoja, on Monday.
Pharmacist Akpah charged the participants to ensure dissemination of ideas, experience and information gathered from the workshop to their various Local Governments with a focus on building capacity and reducing vulnerability status of orphans and vulnerable children in the state.
The CIHP State Boss identified the Local Government Social Welfare Workers as very important to the project, cautioning that they should abhor anything that could negate the entire process, noting that success should be their watch words.
According to Pharmacist Akpah,”the CIHP was ready to collaborate with the Ministry for Women Affairs and Social Development, with a synergy of sharing information and data, to pass judgement that will be meaningful and beneficial to all of us”.
The representative of the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, who is the Acting Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr Allen Emmanuel thanked the CIHP for organizing the training program for Social Welfare Workers, praying God to sustain the tempo on which they operate.
He implored the participants to be responsive, to be able to transmit the gains of the training to the Local Governments they represent.
In a related development in continuation of it’s collaboration/partnership promises with the Ministry, CIHP has presented two brand new Desktop Computers with Monitors to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, to ease the work in this direction.
Presenting the items, Pharmacist Akpah said his office doesn’t make empty promises, hence a fulfillment of promises made, hoping that the systems would be maximally utilised for the benefit of the state.
Responding, the Acting Permanent Secretary, Mr Allen Emmanuel thanked CIHP for the evidential partnership, promising to ensure returns of investment on the items.
Top on the highlights on the presentation ceremony, was a visit to the Situation Room of the Ministry, where CIHP was asked to help reengineer the room with workable gadgets for data collation. Pharmacist Akpah promised to partner with them, doing his best…. Continue reading
