Babangida Onimisi understands that the chances of Nigeria working effectively again depends on youths taking over the mantle of leadership from the incumbent, President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said in an interview with newsmen that the trajectory the nation is traveling is based on the ability of young people to connect and work for the nations common interest.
“For me, Nigeria has a bright chance of coming out of its current challenges. But beyond old sentiments, citizens must be ready to organize themselves, especially the youths who understand what the nation is going through to be able wrest power from the old order.
“For instance, the young Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello understands that for any meaningful development to take place, security must be addressed and that should go together with infrastructural development. He is doing that perfectly in Kogi State as we speak.
“So, who said he cannot replicate the same thing in Nigeria if elected president in 2023? he asked.
Babangida Onimisi Isah, better known as ‘IBB’ who is also the Senior Special Assistant on students to the Governor noted that while he had just recently returned from the conference on security held by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) said the issue of safety of lives of citizens especially students, was germane to the issues that should dominate election matters in the country for 2023.
“To me, antecedents matter. Governor Yahaya Bello has demonstrated why he should be given the opportunity to govern this country.
“It is sad that some persons are still bent on taking us to time past where recycled leaders that have dragged us back have continued to be the major political players in the country. We should go beyond that and move on. Governor Bello has shown that youths can do far better and realistically, he is the hope we have for a better tomorrow as a people.”
He enjoined the youths to realize that many of their colleagues across the nation are being kidnapped from their campuses, dorms and homes, noting that if Gov Bello becomes President, he would address the situation head on.
