NYSC Kogi State Ends SAED with Colorful Exhibition and Inter-Platoon Competition

The 2021 Batch C Stream | Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program has officially come to an end with an array of exhibition from the different skills sets with display of arts, craft and inventions at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Asaya, Kogi State.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the State Coordinator, Pst. Mrs Mofoluwaso Williams commended the NYSC officials, especially Mrs Ifeoma Nweke popularly known as ‘Mama SAED’ and the team of trainers for their doggedness and dedication during the training sessions.

She further charged Corps members to maximize the training program and use them to create more wealth.

“The platform has been set for you. Do not wait for jobs endlessly. You have started well, make sure you create wealth, I therefore urged you to continue to sing the song of SAED” she said.

The nine days Entrepreneurship training which started on 29th of October, 2021 ended with exhibition of various products and Inter-Platoon Competition

All the SAED skills set exhibited their products and were supervised and judges scored the products after thorough inspection. NYSC Kogi state coordinator Mrs.Williams, some senior camp officials and invited guests inspected their work.

During the exhibition Mrs Williams advised the Batch ‘C’ Stream 1 Corps Members to ensure that they continue learning the skills in order to secure financial stability for themselves even after camp.

In her remarks, the head of SAED, Mrs Ifeoma Nweke expressed immense pleasure and gratitude to the management of Eegoja Oil & Gas LTD, the sponsors in the prize given of the Fashion Designing and Beads Making Skills Competition. The six (6) Corps members who came out of 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in the two sub skill sets competition which were awarded by 3 Sewing machine
and 3 Beading tools respectively.

Mrs Nweke stated that all these were achieved with the support of management of Eegoja Oil & Gas LTD and pray to receive similar gesture of sponsors from governmental institution and organization in subsequent training.

The event which was witness by Chairman house committee on public accounts, Hon prince Collins Hilarious Musa, representing Omala LGA and Chairman House committee on Youth Development, Hon Moses Akande Oke representing Ogori magogo.

In a brief address, Hon Prince Collins Musa congratulated and advised all Corps members to continue the SAED training through the post camp training when they settle down at their places of primary assignments. He thanked the management of NYSC for coming up with the SAED program which he described as a panacea to unemployment.

The SAED Inter-Platoon competition featured 6 skill sets out of the twelve skills sets; Food processing, heir facial make-up, tailoring and shoe making.

For Bead Making, platoon 7 came first with platoon 3 and 4 followed the trend.

Platoon 1 shines at Hair & facial make-up with platoon 7 and 3 secure second and third position.

Platoon 8 leads others in Customizing Making while platoon 9 and 6 settle with second and third position.

In tailoring, platoon 5 won the first position and platoon 7 and 9 following shoot in second and third respectively

On I.C.T Platoon 2 leads others in Customizing Making while platoon 1 and 10 settle with second and third position.

In Cosmetology Platoon 6 shines with platoon 10 and 3 secure second and third position

Among the products on exhibition are confectioneries, clothes, different types of braids, aluminum doors and windows and others.
