Edo State University Uzairue To Commission Campus Radio

The Vice Chancellor Edo State University Uzairue, Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor, said the University Radio FM station to be known as 90.5 peak FM with coverage of the campus activities and its environs will be commissioned during the University
3rd convocation ceremony coming up soon.

The Vice Chancellor made this known while briefing journalists on the forth coming university’s 3rd convocation.

Proffessor Aluyor ,said , the vision of the state government that the university should be a centre of excellence is very much on course considering the achievements of the University in the last few years.

According to him, the university has remained in session and maintained a stable academic calendar since inception to graduate students as at when due not minding several challenges.

“Since its inception, the university has grown with an increase in the number of faculties, departments, approved and accredited programmes, and students”.

He said as at today, the university has eight Faculties ie, three faculties in the College of Medical Sciences, that is faculties of Basic Medical Sciences, Basic Clinical Sciences and Clinical Science while other five are faculties of Arts, Management and Social Sciences, Applied Health Science, Engineering, Law and science as against the background of two faculties at inception.

Prof. Aluyor further stated that all programmes across the 8 faculties have approvals and accreditation by the National University Commission (NUC) and while programmes that are professional such as Medicine, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, Engineering, Law, and Accounting have approval and earned full accreditation from the supervising bodies.

According to him, ” the university has also commenced her postgraduate programmes leading to higher degree, having graduated two sets of undergraduates and received approval from NUC after a verification visit adding that the first set of graduate will be convocating on Thursday 4th, November, 2021 while the university has also mounted a conversion programme for graduates of polytechnics and monotechnics who are desirous of a bachelor’s degree.

On student population, he said that since inception in 2015/2016 academic session, the NUC approved the quota of 500 for admission into the university but with 76 students, as at today, the quota has been increased to 1,800 with students population of 2,500 hoping that the population would increase at the end of the 2021/2022 academic session.
