On the 12th of September 2021 all eyes will be on the confluence city of Lokoja as history will made when Edime Edime, a Nigerian actor and movie director, premières a trilogy titled ”the Evolution story” which is arguably the first ever in northern Nigeria.
A trilogy is a set of three works of art that are connected and can be seen either as a single work or as three individual works.
This triology by Edime Edime is made up of OHIALA,ITOPA & ALO , three movies in one that tells of the myths & legends leading to the evolution of IGALA,EBIRA & OKUN ethnic groups which are the three major ethnic groups that make up Kogi state in Nigeria.
This is a huge plus for the Nigerian movie industry popularly called NOLLYWOOD.
Nollywood is globally recognised as the second largest global film industry. The Industry is a significant part of the Arts, Entertainment and Recreation Sector & in 2016 it contributed 2.3% (NGN239biliion) to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
It is one of the priority sectors identified in the Economic Recovery and Growth plan of the Federal Government of Nigeria which in 2020 got $1billion in export revenue from the federal government.
Despite the diversity of the various ethnic groups in Kogi state Edime Edime has through these works found a bond using film in bringing together the three senatorial districts of Kogi & this is highly commendable.
The movie in my opinion is a four star product.
See you at the premier on the 12th.
