FICTION 1:The Hon minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, initiated and orchestrated the exercise to witch hunt his political foes.
FACT 1:It was the South South Governors that demanded the probe of the management of the commission in one of their meetings with the President. Senator Akpabio could not have told the governors what demands to place before Mr president.
FICTION 2:Senator Akpabio was using the forensic audit to delay the constitution and inauguration of a substantive board for the commission for his self aggrandisement.
FACT 2:It’s Mr president that decided not constitute and inaugurate a substantive for the commission until the forensic audit
is concluded and report submitted to him. Senator Akpabio is working on the directives of the president to enable him unravel the reason the region has remained undeveloped despite the trillions of naira accrued to the coffers of the agency since its inception.
FICTION 3:The development of the region has been stalled by the forensic audit of the NDDC.
FACT 3.The region has remained undeveloped despite the trillions of naira accrued to the coffers of the agency since its inception because some unscrupulous elements turned the agency into their cash cow. The exercise has revealed not less than 13,000 abandoned projects that were fully paid for by the Commission.
FICTION 4:Certain recommendations in the forensic audit report were masterminded by Senator Akpabio to put the commission in his pocket.
FACT 4:Nothing can be further than the truth. The team of forensic auditors made far reaching recommendations to ensure that the agency is well run. Structural and managerial changes are recommended to reduce the cost of running the agency. Senator Akpabio has no plans to pocket the commission,he would not be a life Minister of Niger Delta Affairs
