CYWG Lauds APC For Appointing Three Kogi Illustrious Son’s


 

 

 

expressed satisfaction with inclusion of age clause for persons vying for position of youth Leaders

The Coalition of Youth and Women Groups in Kogi State has expressed its appreciation to the National working committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for appointing three of its articulate and energetic youths, Chief Edward David Onoja, Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Dr. Sanusi Ohiare, Executive Director Rural Electrification Fund (REA)/Member BoT of Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC) and Pham. Jamiu Asuku (CoS to Kogi Governor) to serve on National strategic lobby committee of this great party the APC.

The Coalition of Youth and Women groups in Kogi State is an amalgamation of non-governmental socio-political interest groups in Kogi State, is a group that seeks to further the interest of young people, men and women across Kogi State and beyond, particularly praised the Acting National Chairman of the APC, Gov. Mai Mala Buni and the National Youth Leader, Barr. Ismaeel Ahmed for their Youth Inclusive policies in the party.

Addressing a press conference in Lokoja, the CYWG, the Coordinator, Comr. Alfa Ebune, commend the NEC of the APC for adopting parts of the recommendations of the recently held National progressive Youth conference as parts of guidelines for the conduct of the forthcoming Ward, Local Government and state congresses of the APC.

The CYWG particularly expressed satisfaction with the inclusion of age clause which says: “All persons vying for the position of youth Leader in the ward must be between 18 and 35 years of age”.

The CYWG revealed that the singular action of the National working committee has rekindled the hopes of many Young progressives across the country who hitherto had been desprited and discouraged from participating in party activities and holding elective positions within the party at all levels.

While it notes that even though the guidelines has been part of existing written laws of the APC, expressed satisfaction that it does not vitiate the fact that, the current National working committee of the APC has demonstrated genuine efforts towards creating spaces for Youths participation at all levels of participatory politics in Nigeria.

The CYWG says it sees the appointment of the three Kogi illustrious son’s into the National and Zonal strategic committees of the APC as an action and a call for ownership of the party, says it has further given the Youths a sense of belonging to the decision making process of the party and the nation at large.

Comr. Ebune equally appreciated Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello, the Kogi State Governor for giving Youths in the State the platforms to showcase their God given intellect and energy in the leadership and governance of the State and Local Government levels.

Comr. Ebune described the Kogi State Governor as ebullient, energetic, dynamic lauded him for appointing sons and daughters of “Nobody’s” into political offices thereby demystifying the age long axiom that, “Youths are the leaders of tomorrow”, praised the Governor for given Youths and Women in the State the chance to demonstrate their talent and the opportunity to be heard in the political arena of the state.

The CYWG described Gov. Bello as an example worthy of emulation, pledged the group’s unalloyed support to the Presidential aspiration of the Governor, thanked him for being there for the Youths.

The CYWG used the medium to call on Youths and women in Kogi State and beyond to go all out to sensitize Youths and Women in the country on the need to be fully involved and take active part in the forthcoming Ward, Local Government and state congresses of the APC, insisting that it will help in advancing the course of progressive movement in Nigeria.

The CYWG on its part says it remains resolute in its quest to advance the course of progressive movement in Nigeria, through the APC.
