A body known as, Circle Four International, Idah established by a committee of friends with the objective of promoting welfare among of its members as well as in the society has honoured some personalities for their various supportive roles towards societial development.
The body which was formed about 33years ago has been in the forefront of advocating self help and assisting governments in the provision of basic social amenities and also curbing insecurity in Idah town and its environs.
Among the personalities honoured at weekend in Idah by the Association to mark its 33rd anniversary, was the immediate past Minister of State Labour and Employment, Professor Stephen Ocheni, who was described by the President of the body, Alhaji Abdulazeez Idoko as a worthy ambassador of the Association.
Alhaji Abdulazeez who was a former Commissioner for Works in Kogi State, maintained that Professor Ocheni was one of the founding members of the Association in 1988, and till date has remained a member.
According to him, “many members who have not been blessed as Prof. S.I Ocheni left the Association because of the little positions God blessed them with. But Professor Ocheni despite all his accomplishment has remained with us “.
He praised the awardee for his exemplary conduct in and out of public office, saying the body is proud of his achievement in both public service and the academic.
Receiving the award, the former Minister advised leadership of the Association to continue to give priority to community services as Government alone cannot meet the demands of its citizens.
Professor Ocheni who was accompanied by his wife, Ambassador Regina I Ocheni, specifically enjoined the body to concentrate more in assisting the less privileged in the society as doing so will attract more people to join the Club.
The former Minister Who described the efforts of the body so far as commendable and impressive, pledged his continued support to the group in its efforts to render more services to its immediate environment.
Earlier in a lecture titled, ” Combating Unemployment and Security challenges in Igalaland “, the guest lecturer, who is also the Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman, advised people to think more of what they could deploy their God given talent to attain economic and social independent, rather than looking unto government for non existing job.
Dr. Usman Ogbo who decried the alarming rate of youth involvement in various forms of criminal activities, said families should endeavor to give only to the numbers of children they could cater for.
