A socio Cultural group, the Heartbeat Peoples Development Initiative (HPDI), has called for the zoning of the 2023 Presidency to the Old Benin and Delta provinces that metamorphosed into the defunct Midwest Region and later Bendel, now Edo and Delta.
Founder of HPDI, architect Nosasu Omoregbe Edigin , made the call in Benin City. while addressing journalists.
Architect Edigin said, his group’s call was based on the constitutionally recognized concept of the old Northern and Southern protectorates that produced the defunct four regional governments in Nigeria before the advert of the military.
According to him, “in the spirit of Federal Character, the Nigeria rotational Presidency should be rotated between the old Northern protectorates and the old Southern protectorates, this the rotation in the old Southern protectorate should be between the Western Region, the Eastern Region and the Midwest Region”.he concluded.
