… Residents cry to Government for help
Residents of Lokoja are shouting on top of their voices for Gov. Yahaya Bello to intervene in the water scarcity situation as epidemics looms.
The residents complained that the last time water was supplied was three weeks ago, lamented that the time for Gov. Yahaya Bello to intervene is now before matters become worse.
For now the mai ruwa men aside the difficulty in getting water from private boreholes, are now making brisk business as a truck of water now sells for between N1000 to N1200.
Speaking with the Nigerianpost, Kabiru Yusuf, a resident of Lokoja, lamented the water scarcity and hardship faced by residents.
According to Hon. Kabiru Yusuf, the water scarcity has caused untold hardship to residents.
He maintained that if nothing is done he fears that the issues may snowball into an epidemics, Urged the relevant agencies to rise to the occasion by making Potable Water available.
For now the pain faced by the residents of Lokoja and its environs can best be imagined according to Mrs Lare Usman, a resident of Anaebo.
Mrs Lare appealed to the State Government to come to their rescue as it would amount to failure of Government if the primary responsibilities of the Government like Providing Potable Water cannot be met.
She lamented that many women and children have been killed by hit and run drivers in search of water urged the Government to do the needful.
For now residents of Lokoja are living in fear of the impending epidemics that would be caused by water.
