
The Kogi State Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Abubakar Ohere has assured Motorists plying roads in Lokoja metropolis of ongoing efforts to ease vehicular movement and to ease their sufferings owing to the massive road construction work embarked upon by the State and Federal Government.
Engr. Ohere disclosed this on Friday while speaking with Journalists in Lokoja, said the State Government is very much concerned about the challenges that have been posed by the ongoing construction by the Government in the metropolis, assuring that it is systematically embarking on a phase by phase construction of the roads.
The Commissioner disclosed that with the approval granted by Gov. Yahaya Bello to construct roads in major cities, the State has become a massive construction site, but appealed to residents and motorists plying the roads to be patient as there is a deliberate efforts to in the next few weeks open up the areas leading to the hold up and ensure free flow of traffic.
Engr. Ohere disclosed that the State Government, the Ministry of works and Contractors working on the roads are not oblivious of the forthcoming raining season that would soon set in, reason why it is working round the clock to cover much grounds, meet the set target and to open up the areas that would free up traffic.
The Commissioner thanked motorists and users of the roads within and outside the State for their patient, called for their understanding, assured that the State Government would not take their understanding for granted but do all it can to reduce their sufferings.
The Commissioner assured that the pains and sufferings faced by the people would be gained through improved road networks in the metropolis and across the state in the coming days, assured that efforts would be redoubled to ease the plights of motorists using the State roads.
