Council of Ulamau Disburses N2.5million As Zakat to 63 Needy Persons in Kogi


 

 

The Kogi State chapter of the Council of Ulamau of Nigeria has disbursed N2.5 million as zakat to 63 needy persons in the state.

 

While handing over the money to the beneficiaries in Lokoja on Saturday, Alhaji Tanko Talle , Secretary , Zakat and Endowment Committee of the council charged the beneficiaries to make the best use of the money.

Talle explained that the 63 beneficiaries were picked across the 21local governments in the state, saying that each of them will receive N40, 000.

According to him, the beneficiaries included 32 women and 31 men who were adjudged to be indigent by the committee.

Talle explained that widows were among the women beneficiaries, saying that the Zakat disbursement was the first edition.

In a lecture on the importance of Zakat, Justice Musa Ohu, enjoined Muslims to always pay Zakat regularly.

He said that Zakat being third pillar of Islam was to ensure fair and just distribution of wealth among Muslims, saying it’s regular payment comes with reward from the Almighty Allah.

In his speech, the Chairman of the occasion, Capt. Idris Wada , urged Muslims to cultivate the habit of giving as enjoined on them by the Holy Quoran.

Wada who was represented at the event by Alhaji Rajab Noibi said that payment of Zakat, being the third pillar of Islam was compulsory for all Muslims, including salary earners.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Hajara Yahaya , thanked the council for coming to their aid, saying that the money came in timely.
