OBI/KWANKWASO 2027: PETER OBI’S LOKOJA VISIT A GLIMPSE OF NEW NIGERIA — MNR TELLS KOGITES TO REJECT RICE POLITICS

The Kogi State Chapter of the Movement for National Renewal (MNR) has described the visit of the Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Peter Obi, to Lokoja on Tuesday as a milestone for democracy and a glimpse of a New Nigeria.
In a Solidarity Message signed by Enape Friday on behalf of the National Coordinator, Comrade Habuh-Rajan Suleiman, the movement said the interactive town hall session held on 27th October, 2026, was more than politics, it was a heart-to-heart engagement on the future of the country.
According to the MNR, Mr. Obi addressed critical issues confronting Nigerians with honesty, linking insecurity to poverty and promising that an NDC government would fight poverty to reduce criminality and bring down the cost of living so that “the child of a nobody can become somebody without knowing anybody.”
The group noted that the NDC presidential candidate also condemned corruption and leadership failure, decrying a culture of impunity where looters walk freely while millions go to bed hungry.
On Kogi State, the MNR said Obi recognized the state as a tourist delight with huge potential for foreign exchange and job creation, and assured that the Ajaokuta Steel Company would finally be fixed to drive Nigeria from consumption to production.
The statement described Obi as a leader with verifiable developmental strides as Governor of Anambra State and charged Kogites to resist rice and palliative politics.
“Do not mortgage your future and that of your children for a bag of rice. This is the time to vote Honesty, Competence over Mediocrity, Accountability over impunity, Transparency over deceit, and Performance over propaganda,” the group said.
The MNR urged Kogites to seize the opportunity to be part of the making of a renewed Nigeria and to trust Obi’s promises to the state.

Fellow Kogites,
On behalf of our National Coordinator, Comrade Habuh-Rajan Suleiman, MNR Kogi State Chapter, we express our profound appreciation to His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), for his historic visit and robust interactive session in Lokoja on Tuesday, 27th October, 2026.
Yesterday was not just a town hall. It was a unique milestone for democracy and a clear glimpse of the New Nigeria we are evolving through the Obi/Kwankwaso candidacy.
Mr. Obi spoke to us heart-to-heart. He addressed our pains honestly:
On insecurity, he linked it to poverty and vowed that an NDC government will fight poverty to reduce criminality, promising to bring down the cost of living so that the child of a nobody can become somebody without knowing anybody.
On corruption and leadership failure he condemned the culture of impunity where looters walk freely while millions go to bed hungry.
On Kogi’s future, he recognized our state as a tourist’s delight capable of generating foreign exchange and jobs, and assured us that Ajaokuta Steel Company will finally be fixed to move Nigeria from consumption to production.
This is the Peter Obi we know, a leader who has proved his mettle with verifiable developmental strides as Governor of Anambra State.
Therefore, I charge every Kogite: Resist rice and palliative politics. Do not mortgage your future and that of your children for a bag of rice. This is the time to vote Honesty, Competence over Mediocrity, Accountability over impunity, Transparency over deceit, and Performance over propaganda – the very virtues that define Peter Obi’s public life.
We call on kogites to seize this opportunity to be part of the makers of a renewed Nigeria. Take his promises to Kogi to the bank. He will deliver. Vote Peter Obi/Kwankwaso for president!
A New Nigeria is Possible. It starts from Kogi State.
Signed
Enape Friday
