No fewer than 315 youths across Kogi State have commenced an intensive digital fashion and creative enterprise training under The HER MARK initiative powered by The YEM Fashion Home.

The program, which is a youth-based, household-inclusive digital design and creative enterprise program for the 21 Local Government Areas of the state, was flagged off in Lokoja at the weekend, with intense training after unbundling the youths Monday.

Disclosing this, the Chief Executive Officer of The YEM Fashion Home and Project Lead for HER MARK, Mrs. Opeyemi Bamijoko Alonge, said the training marks the second edition of the program in the state, following the first edition held under the administration of former Governor Yahaya Bello.

According to her, the training is sponsored by the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, as part of his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, digital skills and job creation.

The three-month intensive program, which includes one-month practical training, will equip participants with 21st-century fashion skills far beyond conventional tailoring.

Participants will be trained on:

– Introduction to Fashion Digital Designing
– Design with CorelDRAW / Illustrator
– Monogram Design
– Product Make-up and Branding
– Design for DTF, Flex and Sublimation Printing
– Portfolio Development
– Business and Freelance Opportunities

Alonge explained that the HER MARK initiative is a shift from the usual tailoring and sewing with ordinary machines, to a modern, AI-driven and digital skill-based fashion enterprise model.

“This is not the usual fashion training. This is fashion with the application of AI and digital skills. We are preparing our youths to compete globally as creative entrepreneurs,” she said.

She added that at the end of the training, participants will be provided with starter packs, including industrial machines and laptops to enable them to start their own businesses immediately.

The program, she noted, is designed to make youths in Kogi self-reliant, employable and employers of labour in the growing digital and creative economy.

The HER MARK project continues to position Kogi State as a hub for digital creativity and youth-driven enterprise under the Ododo administration.
