The Distinguished Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, has funded the reconstruction of the collapsed Ilafin-Isanlu Bridge and Culvert on the Iyeju River in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area.
The bridge, which serves as a vital link between Ilafin and Isanlu communities, had collapsed and become a death trap for motorists and residents, causing untold hardship and disrupting economic activities.
Worried by the plight of the people, Senator Karimi released funds for the complete reconstruction of the bridge, including the construction of retaining walls and drainage to ensure durability and prevent future collapse.
Work is currently ongoing at the site, with residents expressing optimism that the new structure will be delivered to standard and stand the test of time.
Residents of the area have commended the Senator for the intervention, describing it as timely and life-saving, noting that it will restore economic activities, ensure safety of road users and ease movement between communities.
More projects are ongoing across Kogi West Senatorial District, as Senator Karimi has assured constituents that he will not relent in delivering interventions that directly impact lives.
