Adankolo’s Historic Visit to Governor Ododo: And The Raging Storm

Adankolo’s Historic Visit to Governor Ododo: And The Raging Storm

Don’t envy the glory without asking for the story.

For 35 years, my people — the Bassa Nge/Nupe natives of Adankolo and Lokongoma Communities— who donated their land for the creation of Kogi State in 1991 to built (Lugard House), have been the host community to Government House, Lokoja.

The seat of power. Where people come to get the largesse and goodies of every government.

Yet for 35 years, we could not even approach the gate of Government House, let alone sit with a sitting Governor. Not under Military Administrators, not under civilian Governors.

Sadly, other communities — even those who are not indigenes of Lokoja or Kogi State — have enjoyed this privilege: Tiv, Idoma, Igbo, Yoruba, Ebira, Edo, South South (Niger Delta) Fulani (MACBAN), Hausa, Igala communities and more, especially in previous administrations.

But Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has broken the yoke and removed the barrier — through his loyal, resourceful and result-oriented aide, Hon. Nda Aaron, Special Adviser on Multimedia and Conception.

And you think some forces will not fight Nda Aaron, politically and otherwise?

*My Track Record Speaks*

I built my integrity from primary school, secondary school, tertiary institution and NYSC — where I always fought for the oppressed and demanded accountability. That earned me the position of Chairman, EFCC NYSC Community Development Club in Hadejia, Jigawa State, and the award for Most Popular Corps Member of my set.

As a foundation member of Kogi Youth Arise Group and AYBists, I worked closely with then Chief of Staff, H.E. Edward Onoja, former Deputy Governor. I coordinated political activities with the party, stakeholders and youths competently, without ever being found wanting.

A clear example: During the litigation that challenged the emergence of Alhaji Yahaya Bello as Governor, I was entrusted with funds and responsibilities to mobilize youths from Lokoja to the Tribunal in Jabi, to the Court of Appeal, and finally to the Supreme Court. I was close to power then and was never found wanting. It shouldn’t be now.

*To My Followers and Supporters:*

You will recall a similar pattern in 2018 when former Governor Yahaya Bello generously donated ₦15 million to complete the Adankolo Central Mosque, but detractors claimed it was ₦75 million. The sad truth is, those peddling such noise cannot point to any visible contribution they have made to Adankolo and Lokongoma.

For the record, even our community’s first visit to then Chief of Staff Edward Onoja in 2017 was facilitated by me. That interaction drew the attention of H.E. Yahaya Bello’s government to Adankolo, with overwhelming evidence: The GYB Model Secondary School sited in Adankolo, and solar street lights that initially stopped at Federal University Lokoja for students’ security, but were later extended to our community, which includes Road construction and others .

In Nupe, my role is called many names: _Yekope_ — Open Door or Breakthrough, _Bayeti_ — Light, and _Atuchi_ — The Messenger.

*Appreciation to Governor Ododo*

Your Excellency, thank you for granting my people this historic audience and interacting with them so positively.

HRH Chief David Aibe Agbayi II, the Etsu of Adankolo Baagadozhi, his delegation, the youths and the women have been in joyous mood — because for the first time, they walked into Government House Lokoja as if it were their own house, and returned with the goodies of Lugard House, courtesy of your generosity.

The youths, through Hon. Comrade Abdullahi David Amkpita, sent their warmest regards. The women, through Mrs. Zainab Abubakar aka Mummy Worker’s Village, also pledged their unalloyed support for your continuity and President Tinubu’s second term.

*In Conclusion:*

People don’t throw stones at an unripe mango. This is the classic case of Nda Aaron — what no one could do for 35 years, God has done through Your Excellency, Governor Ododo and your loyal Aide Nda Aaron.

Thank you, Your Excellency Governor Ododo, and thank you, HRH David Aibe Agbayi II, Etsu of Adankolo Kingdom, for counting me worthy as your true Messenger — Atuchi.

Enemies, please don’t kill the child that has been working round the clock ceaselessly for the past 11 years in the System Political Family! ❤️🙏

*- Nda Aaron writes from Adankolo Traditional Community, Lokoja.*
