The National Coordinator of the Movement for National Renewal (MNR), Comrade Habuh-Rajan Suleiman, has called on the people of Kogi Central Senatorial District to embrace and massively vote for candidates of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) as the only party strong enough to take Nigeria out of the woods.
Speaking on Tuesday, 13/10/2026, at the official flag-off of the Kogi Central Campaign Committee of the party at Afims Hotel, Okene, through the Movement’s National Secretary, Bro. Baba Abdulrazak, Comrade Suleiman charged the people of Central to replicate the pan-Nigerianism embodied by great nationalists like Sir Raji Abdallah who, though an Ebira man, was President of the radical Zikist Movement and a close ally of Nnamdi Azikiwe. Both fought the British for independence in the 1940s.
“Equally, let us draw from the progressive ideals of national icons like Alhaji Abdulmalik Atta and Chief S.B. Daniyan, great nationalists, bureaucratists and educationists who etched their names in history as sons of Kogi State with global impact. These men were true patriots and nationalists. Their actions were never narrowly motivated. Today, Kogi Central and indeed Kogi State cannot afford not to make uninformed decisions on governance and national development,” he said.
According to him, the joint ticket of Mr. Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso for President and Vice President respectively is the best Nigeria has put forward since the last military interregnum and the birth of the Fourth Republic.
“Peter Obi has a track record of prudence, humane, selflessness, accountability, transparency and competence, among other virtues. Nigeria has been held back by bad leadership. The leadership gap is damning and Nigerians are paying dearly for it. At all tiers of government, what we have today are fortune chasers rather than leaders. The 2027 general election provides yet another opportunity to birth a new Nigeria, and I hope we will not let that opportunity slip away.”
He added: “Let me congratulate Engr. Muritala Salau, a perfect gentleman and the NDC senatorial candidate for Kogi Central, for flying the party’s ticket and leading other candidates into the election. You must jealously guard the ideals of the party and ensure that service to the people remains your driving force.”
