Lokoja Ward A APC Targets Double Votes In 2027, Moves To Reposition Largest Ward

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ward A, Lokoja Local Government Area, has resolved to double the votes recorded in the 2023 general elections in the 2027 polls as part of moves to reposition the ward as a leading political bloc in Kogi State.

The resolution was reached at a strategic meeting convened by the Ward Chairman, Hon. Shaibu Yakubu, which brought together Special Advisers to the Governor, Senior Special Assistants, the Ward Councillor, Woman Leader and other critical stakeholders of the party.

Among those in attendance were Dr. Abubakar Sadiq Bala, Hon. Nda Aaron, Abu Michael, Mohammed N.T, Ward Woman Leader Hon. Habitat Jimoh, Hon. Folorunsho Olurunpomi, Hon. Nasara Ola and Habitat Jimoh, who said the parley was aimed at returning Ward A, the largest in Lokoja LGA, to its rightful place in the political equation of the state.

Speaking at the meeting, Hon. Yakubu said he would sustain his consultative leadership style, noting that Ward A, with over 100 polling units spread across three zones, carries enormous responsibility ahead of the forthcoming general elections. He stressed the need for regular engagements to ensure the APC wins convincingly in 2027.

He described the presence of eight Special Advisers and several other political appointees from the ward as evidence of the confidence reposed in Ward A by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, adding that such benevolence must be justified with results at the polls.

In his remarks, Chairman of Ward A Stakeholders, Hon. Mohammed N. Tenimu, said his role was not to dominate but to preside over meetings that would reposition the ward for electoral victory. He described his tenure as a new era for Ward A and called on members to bring forward ideas that would strengthen the party.

Chief Emmanuel Obasi, in his contribution, commended the ward chairman for his efforts in repositioning the APC, citing the acquisition and renovation of a new ward secretariat and the initiation of a memo that ensured a fair and balanced sharing formula for the NG-CARES programme in the state as commendable. He described Yakubu as a core party man who has strengthened unity and cohesion.

The meeting, which also deliberated on modalities for the equitable distribution of NG-CARES items allocated to the ward, ended with a unanimous resolution to surpass its 2023 performance and deliver overwhelming victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in 2027.

The Woman Leader, Hon. Habitat Jimoh and Hon. Folorunsho Olurunpomi assured members of a new beginning for APC in Ward A, pledging to mobilise women and grassroots supporters ahead of the general elections.
